Starring: Ninomiya Kazunari, Ikewaki Chizuru, Otake Shinobu, Katsuji Ryo, Katsumura Masanobu.
2006
This drama SP tells the true story of a boy named Kitahara Kazunori. Kazu, for short, twisted his leg during table tennis practice. When he went to the doctor, he was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, which is a type of cancer that attacks the skin and bones.
Kazu was in the second year of high school when he was diagnosed, but he fought bravely to overcome the disease. Having his mind set on entering Tokyo University, he studied hard even though he wasn't able to attend classes.
With the help and support of a teacher, Sakaki and several caring friends, Kazu was able to acquire knowledge all the same. As he aimed for his goal, he was able to find something to hold on to, something to fight for, thus allowing him to occasionally forget about his sickness.
The title can be translated loosely into "I wonder if I am able to repay my debts (to my parents?)" which was Kazu's reason for wanting to be accepted into Toudai.
Nurse, who flirts, Sasaki.
Mother, Mikiko.
Brother, Masakazu.
*****
[Spoilers]
Nino has to stop playing characters that suffer. D:
I got this a while ago, but I haven't watched it until today.
Yesterday's Arashi no Shukudai-kun featured an actor. So when the members were asked if they have died before in a movie/drama, MatsuJun's answer was "I never died before...." and Nino's was "I died a couple of times, there's suicide, dying from sickness..."
So I watched the suicide one, now its the sickness one.
The nurse is played by Ikewaki Chizuru, she was in "Summer Snow". She's not bad.
Anyways, I wailed like a baby. Okay, that was an exaggeration, but this is a sad, sad movie/drama.
Nino shaved his head for this project. Yes, he was bald for a while.
I watched 3 movies today, this is the only one that I find worthy of a place in this blog. ^^

4/5
